Oakridge BBQ’s Venison & Wild Game Rub is balanced with a beautiful heat that comes from a complex blend of chiles. The heat registers early but never gets out of hand. Herbs like ginger, shallots and lemongrass punch up the “fresh” vibe. Also stellar on pork chops and as an all-purpose seasoning.

I hadn’t thought to use a rub this sweet on venison, and maybe that’s Oakridge BBQ’s point. When I tried it on venison steaks, I was pleasantly surprised at how well it works. That said, this is a wonderfully balanced rub that’s quite at home on pork, poultry or even seafood.
