My first remarks after tasting Melissa Cookston’s Chipotle Pecan rub on a pork chop: “Oh wow, boom, that's an explosion of unexpected flavors.” There's one in particular — the annatto maybe — that ties it all together and sends this one over the top for me. Complex and a little exotic.

Smoky, rich flavors make this one instantly delicious. The garlic and onion savories stand out for their depth of flavor along with a chipotle pepper heat that’s just itchin’ to break free. The sweetness also runs deep in its flavor while still staying extremely well-balanced overall.
